Help is at hand for older people – Alton Community Forum
Older people and people who care for elderly relatives are being encouraged to come along to a special event to show off the services available for them.
The event, organised by East Hampshire District Council, will gather local authorities and care organisations in one place, giving Alton residents a chance to find out the services and facilities available for older people and those who care for or support them.
Held on Wednesday 18 July, at Alton Community Centre, the event will feature a market place of care services and speakers from the industry.
Cllr Charles Louisson, Chairman of EHDC’s Community Forum for Alton and the surrounding villages, said: “Remaining socially active can be very difficult for older people and it is easy to find yourself cut off from friends and family.
“It has been proved that social isolation is as bad for your health as smoking or obesity so tackling this issue has become one of East Hampshire District Council’s top priorities.
“This event will gather together some of the key players in social care in the district, so if you want to find out more about what is available for you or for the older people you care for then come along on 18 July.”
