Kroma is an empowering and enabling organisation for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and alternative (LGBT+) communities, their families and friends, within Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham and Havant.
- Mental health and wellbeing – is important, especially when we are transitioning, coming out or trying to understand what a friend or loved one is going through.
- Hate crime – Many of us experience homophobic, transphobic or bi-phobic comments or abuse and some may not understand how to deal with the hate they are receiving. Sometimes these experiences lead to people attempting suicide, on average 90%* of transgender and 54%* of gay people do. (*from Public Health England)
- Support – So when they or you need support, where do you go to be amongst like-minded people, in a comfortable, safe environment? Sometimes as a close friend, a loved one or a parent you need support to help understand or know what you can do to support.
We provide weekly drop in services in Portsmouth and Fareham for both the trans community, LGB, fortnightly creative situations in Southsea, Family & Friend sessions and counselling for those in need.
We would like to extend the drop ins for people in Havant, Waterlooville and Gosport, so please let others know who may be able to help and refer them to our Support page
We work in partnership with Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust Patient Experience to help improve the experience the LGBT + community receives during their outpatient or inpatient appointments at both QA and St Mary’s Hospitals.
